I finally bought this camera after the Kodak EasyShare M1033 10MP Digital Camera with 3x Optical Zoom (Bronze) and the Sony Cybershot DSC-S950 10MP Digital Camera with 4x Optical Zoom with Super Steady Shot Image Stabilization (Silver) failed. Honestly, this camera was actually my first choice, but I bought the others because of the price. Then, I had doubts because of the reviews about the zoom for this camera, which I will explain, later.

This camera has a ton of options for such a little camera. Not to mention, the 2.7 inch screen is pretty big for this size camera. Some bigger cameras do not have as big of a screen. It has a great picture when focusing. The picture is not as vivid as other cameras, but it is still takes sharp photos.

One feature I noticed is taken photos can be zoomed in on. After taking a picture, press the zoom button and it will zoom in on the picture. The photo can also be looked at in 360 degree angle. Also, the software can allow users to improve images of uploaded photos. This feature is called "Auto Adjust". For example, I took a few pictures, which were kind of dark. Well, clicking on "Auto Adjust" will show the taken image and an improved image. The improve image will be a little lighter and clearer than the original.

The shooting options are practically idiot proof. The SR Auto does everything for the user. The camera adjusts by which type of scene the user is in. Then, it has the face detection. The videos show very clear. Some reviewers on this website and others have said the camera cannot zoom, while recording videos. I don't know if they have bad cameras, but I was actually able to zoom, while recording. To prove it, I replayed the recording and voila! It recorded, while zooming.

The battery life is great for this camera, as well. The battery life indicator shows three bars as fully charged. At a football game, I was continuously taking pictures and turning the camera on and off. I left the football game with two bars left. That was pretty good. I cannot say that about the Kodak camera, which I previously had.

For those who are planning to download videos onto YouTube, be warned! It is not easy. I am only speaking for someone who owns a PC. With this camera, I found by using Internet Explorer, YouTube would only accept a small amount of shooting time from this camera, which is usually two minutes and under. If the user makes a video, which was longer, an unloading error would come on. This was weird. I tried to find solutions to this problem. I actually saw on YouTube, an internet program called Mozilla Firefox was supposed to be the solution, so I downloaded it.

Now, YouTube downloads my videos with extended time. It is weird, but I guess FireFox is more compatible with the FujiFilm format. Despite this, the videos do take a lot of time to download, though. For this camera, it takes YouTube 30 minutes to download a 10 minute video. That is craaaazy! I got to find out how to get a faster way of downloading. Disregard if you are not a YouTube user. The videos will still show on the software, which it came with. That takes virtually no time. The other two previously purchased cameras I had did not have this problem. Everything uploaded rather quickly.

Overall, if you are not big on putting videos onto YouTube, this camera is for you. Don't worry! You can quickly see videos on the software. The camera is great, though. If users are willing to overlook the YouTube stuff, this camera has too many other features, whch makes it worth owning.

I bought this camera to supplement my Canon Eos 5d SLR. This camera is extremely well made. The controls are intuitive. I really did not need to read the manual. It handles much better than my Canon G9 which I sold on Ebay. The ability to add an external flash and viewfinder also add to the utility of this camera. This is fairly expensive for a camera without interchangeable lenses, etc. It is much smaller than the Canon G11, which is cheaper. There is now way to add any filters, since there is no threading for this on the lens. I confirmed this with Leica today. I normally put a filter on an expensive lens right away. This camera can shoot in RAW, so you can use it with Photoshop. I think it is worth the price. One other consideration for those looking for a fine camera that is small would be the Panasonic GF1 or the soon to be released Olympus EP2. These take interchangeable lenses, including some made by Leica. These cameras are larger though and cannot go into a coat pocket. I love my kodak!! I was looking for a rechargable camera but settled for this one because of the price. The pictures are clear as day and the close-ups are incredible! It takes lithium batteries though, and have found the batteries last longer if you take them out or insert a little piece of paper to block the batterie's connection to the metal plate. It seems the power "leaks" from the batteries even if it is off which is a small inconvenience for the quailty of photos that it provides. I bought this camera specifically for my honeymoon back in June. We went to Fiji, and I wanted to have something to take underwater shots of the coral, etc.

This little thing did better than expected. The instructions suggest that you keep it underwater for no more than 10 minutes. We went on a 45 minute dive, and it held up. I did get a little nervous when after about 35 minutes underwater, I began to notice some 'bubbles' forming under the screen. I don't know if it was air, or if water got it, but when I got to the surface I opened everything up to dry out, and it disappeared soon.

The pictures and video underwater turned out fantastic.

I've dropped it a couple times, and generally used it like it's made to be used, and it's held touhg for over 5 months. My aim in purchasing the EX-H10 was to find an ultra-compact camera with a long zoom and reasonable picture quality. The length and width are about the same as the competing Lumix, Canon, and Stylus 9000 models. The Stylus 7010 is slightly smaller and lighter, but had bad reviews. The Casio EX-H10 is about an ounce or two lighter than competing cameras at 6.8 oz and almost a half inch smaller in depth at 0.9 inches. That makes a difference. However, it feels heavier than the EX-Z850 and is a little bulkier. I recently tried out the Stylus TZ7 (also called the ZS3) and it was decidedly heavier at 8 oz and 1/2" thicker.

The image quality of photos is good. It is not what one expects from a good SLR with a larger sensor, but pleasing. The zoom starts at 24mm -- good for those who wish a wide-angle camera. Granted, I've only been able to use the camera for a few weeks now, but I have to admit I'm not overly impressed. I disregarded several of the negative reviews I read on this, trying to be optimistic, but that isn't working out for me. I purchased a Nikon Coolpix S630 just before I went to Europe five weeks ago. After 1000 pictures of mountain tops, boat rides, dark rooms and action shots, I am done testing it and am very pleased. For years I wanted a hassle-free camera with a high amount of optical zoom yet small in size, shoots well without a lot of light and a number of other features. I hoped to spend less money but was afraid a cheaper camera would frustrate me due to lack of features, poor quality or confusing operation. The S630 gives me all I want in a camera for a reasonable price.

My cousin was a professional photographer and he is impressed with how well this camera performs. Closeups of flowers are spectacular. Pictures displayed on a 42" TV have great resolution and color accuracy. Pictures in poorly lit rooms come out with amazing clarity. Video and audio quality also are outstanding.

Reading reviews critical of this camera made me a little nervous about deciding to buy this camera but I am glad that I figured out they are overly critical except for the zoom speed. The zoom motor is too fast and you often overshoot where you want it to stop. All too often it will not stop where you want it to and you have to walk forward or backward to frame the shot. No camera will always produce a perfect shot on the automatic setting. Photography is a learned skill. The large screen lets you see if the shot did not come out right. You learn and try one of the other settings available. Battery life was roughly 125 pics. Time between pics is a little slow, but ok.

Pros: Quality pictures, video and audio; 7x optical zoom in a small body; logical hassle-free operation; reasonable price; low light pics are outstanding; has many nice features (too many to list here).

I took my new camera for a 4-day visit to So. Africa's Kruger National Park, and was exceptionally pleased. Being a Canon fan, learning the features was pretty straight-forward. The camera feels good in my hand and I liked the color more than I thought (all my others were silver or black). I liked the direct dial to the camera modes (over the menu); the compact size for a 12x zoom is great; the zoom is awesome for such a small package, however it went from optical directly to digital and I prefer to do digital adjustments on my computer. This is my first camera without a view finder and it took getting used to it. The 3 inch screen is nice and bright, although a bit challenging in brilliant sunlight. I am quite happy with the image quality, probably due to image stabilization, but I also used the kids/pets mode for animals in motion. The colors are crisp and clear. The flash, as reported, is only effective for subjects pretty close in, well under 10 feet. I didn't try the low light feature as I didn't have a tripod. I'm really glad I purchased a back up battery (the Lenmar DLC5L equivalent to NB-5L) as it was usually mid day when it went out; either battery lasted about a day and a half of constant on-off, a lot of flash and only a little video. I got the Transcend 8 GB SDHC Class 6 flash memory card which was plenty for my trip. Well, this purchase has been a huge disappointment. I purchased this September 30th, but then could not use it because it does not use standard memory cards and I had to go out of town on business. So, I get back and go to several stores - CVS, Walgreen's, etc and they do not carry the memory cards. First of all, although the wider lens is nice, this camera has very poor performance with low light conditions compared to my Canon G9. I bought it for the waterproof capability. I used it under water one time, and followed all the instructions. I have to say some of the underwater photos were decent if enough light was present. Why do I say that the camera can blow your mind? Because it is capable of delivering truly excellent images under a remarkable range of conditions. First, it has very credible 1600 ISO. And usable 3200 ISO. I will give you links at the end where you can verify that I am not making this up. This high ISO ability allows you to shoot indoors and get decent images. The fancy modes, pro focus and pro low light, so work, although the subject must remain quite still. But you can get remarkably clean images. Again, I have plenty of examples at the links I provide.

When you take the camera outdoors, you will see that it is very good at controlling exposures and managing dynamic range. I shoot in P mode almost all the time, setting auto ISO 1600, M3:2 as the size (5mp), and DR400% mode. That is the most flexible setting for indoors and out. You can set EXR DR mode up with flash if you want a quick way to get the same behavior with the flash on. The two settings are next to each other on the dial and this makes for super convenience.

The lense is far from perfect, being a 10x zoom. It shows CA more often than some others, but what you get for that price in incredible reach. Mine happens to be very sharp, although some have complained about blurry corners. I've seen their images, and they are a bit blurry, but most people shooting snaps won't even notice. The lens is decently stabilized so that, once you learn to relax when you shoot and hold the cam steady, you can get really crisp close ups from a long way away.

The manual controls add real spice to this cam. I was able to shoot a crisp image of the moon and tonight I was able to shoot Jupiter with FOUR Galilean moons visible. That's an incredible feat from a compact camera. I used a tripod, but it is still amazing.

These are not minor accomplishments ... I have many images in my gallery and on my blog, along with extensive tests and explanations. If you read that over, you will find that I am not 100% positive, but I am constantly delighted and sometimes it simply blows my mind. You could do far worse than this little camera.

When I went to Lollapalooza this year I wanted a camera that would not only take pictures and have video but also have 12 MP. This was the camera for me! Problem is they only sell the camera in blue and I am a guy so that was a little weird. So then I came here to Amazon and got the camera in black and got a 4 GB memory stick for around 220. So this was the best value for me here at Amazon. Then about the camera. IT IS AN AMAZING CAMERA. It does not have the closest zoom of all time but it is pretty good. I used to to shoot alot of video and the video are actually VERY good. For a camera is looks like an actual video camera is recording it all! it is a must buy if you want quality. I am a commercial photographer for 10+ years and I buy these pocket cameras because I want a camera with me at all times. They are Wonderful - up until this one. I've had the 500, 600, 630, 800, 870 and now the 980. LOVE them ALL except the 980.

I bought this to replace my 870 - which has been the best (IMHO) of the Canon line so far.

I liked the HD video idea, loved the wider lens - however.... I got one and sent it back realizing the IS really doesn't work. the 870 was amazing hand held at 1". The 980 is not working, so I returned it - Amazon's return is wonderful. The new one - same thing, so it is either me or they are both broke - or Canon went backwards on their Image Stabilization.

Picture quality I assumed would be better with the Digic 4 chip - not near as vivid as the 870 chip. The images I find are "gray" in color - not contrast.

Overall I can't wait for another Canon wide angle to come out so I can replace this. I would wait to buy - or buy another model. The 980 is a disappointment and Canon should kill it and update it. This is the best point and shoot camera I have ever used. While it is also the most expensive, in this case you are certainly getting what you pay for. The buttons are crisp and the screen is huge. The photos it takes are higher quality than some DSLR's I've seen. It will also shoot full manual. This is a great camera for someone who knows how to frame a shot, but does not know much about manual settings. The great thing is about the G10 is that you can learn to shoot full manual with it, but also use it as a point and shoot.

Things I liked:
- It's size
- It's relatively quick startup time
- It's relatively quick autofocus (shutter lag) time - first pocket camera I've had where the shutter lag was blindingly obviously noticeable
- Real nice colors in the photos I took

Things I didn't like:
- It's small, but weighs enough to still be noticeable. The listed weights don't back me up, but it felt like it weighed more than the sd1200 in my pocket.
- Resolution - despite being rated 12 megapixels, I got slightly *less* detail out of it in sunny conditions than I got out of my 5 megapixel kodak point and shoot that I bought 5 years ago for like $200.
- Things in the middle of a picture hasve the same detail as my 5mp kodak, but things around the edges are notably fuzzier and blurrier.
- Got a couple of out of focus shots even in bright daylight
- To be fair, it did do better in low light than my kodak, taking clearer and more color-accurate shots than my kodak in my apartment with the lights on.

If you've read the Consumer Reports review, it suggested this camera had really good ISO (low light perfomance). It's rather misleading. I bought this camera hoping it had really good night shots - they were just as crap-tastic as other point and shoots that fit in your pocket. Even with lighting directly above them, I could not get a non-blurry picture of my friends at night without a flash. If I used a flash, it tended to give me the typical "faces way white and washed out" look.

I noticed while noise is technically well controlled, what happens is that the darker and higher the iso for the shot, the more smudgy and less detailed the photo gets. I mean, I thought they did a nice job at it - I didn't get that "lots of noise" look to my darker photos. But those photos also clearly lost some resolution.

If you're looking for resolution in your photos from the 12mp rating, or are excited about the high ISO rating, do *NOT* buy this camera. Even buying just a *slightly* larger camera like the SD1200 will likely (based on my shots + online sample photos) give you more resolution and slightly better low light performance, though the noise removal on this camera is pretty nice (perhaps the sd1200 will get replaced with a camera with the same processor as this one) but results in reduced resolution rather than additional noise in your photo. If you just want a tiny point and shoot to take pics to put on facebook, this camera is a decent option. Got a Sony Cybershot W220 camera and wife loved it. Also got extended warranty from Vann's SquareDeal. After reading manual I had to have the deluxe Cybershot so I bought the W290 for me with more advanced features and easier to use menu plus better zoom than W220. She said she liked it so we keep both :-) I liked the W220 until I got the W290 with easier menu and more features such as underwater, (we hope to go back to the Philippines and "Swim with the Fishes") and other open shutter ability on a tripod to take low light photos similliar to SLR capabilities. The LCD is bigger but what is also handy is all the accessories work on both. However for the deep water case to work on various Cybershots different inserts have to be changed. I bought this camera specifically for my honeymoon back in June. We went to Fiji, and I wanted to have something to take underwater shots of the coral, etc.

This little thing did better than expected. The instructions suggest that you keep it underwater for no more than 10 minutes. We went on a 45 minute dive, and it held up. I did get a little nervous when after about 35 minutes underwater, I began to notice some 'bubbles' forming under the screen. I don't know if it was air, or if water got it, but when I got to the surface I opened everything up to dry out, and it disappeared soon.

The pictures and video underwater turned out fantastic.

I've dropped it a couple times, and generally used it like it's made to be used, and it's held touhg for over 5 months. First off, for what it does, this is a great camera. So, I may keep it, even if it doesn't do what I bought it for. I wanted a replacement for my Sony DCR-HC90, which has live firewire output. The ZS3 has live composit output that monitors what you see on the LCD display. But, it doesn't send out live HDMI output. Why is this important? Well, if you want a higher quality source for video conferencing, the ZS3 won't work! As for me, I VJ at concerts, so need a digital input into my laptop to tweak live video. Both use cases are not your typical point-and-shoot fare, so I can understand why Panasonic would leave it out. But, I suspect this could be fix in firmware, which make the ZS3 a must-have for VJs. On the plus side, is that recording off a computer screen with Motion JPEG (not AVCHD) is a dream, even when handheld. This is a great little product!

Tech support, on the other hand, is the pits! After waiting for 21 minutes on the phone, I get an agent who was very please with himself, would used acronyms like VOC (voice of the customer), would answer questions with absolute certainty, yet was absolutely wrong! First question: will the ZS3 send out monitor on HDMI? His answer: yes. Real answer: no. Second question: the meter bars clutter up the live signal when sending out via composit, is there a way to get rid of it? His answer: no. Real answer: change metering to average mode and the meter bars will go away. After his answers I asked him to forward my suggestion to Panasonic. That is when he starts in with the "VOC" nonsense. Sorry but, I really don't want learn how to speak in Pana-pep-talk, just forward the suggestion. Two days later, the mini-HDMI cable came. So, I hooked up the ZS3 to my HDMI projector to confirm that: no, there is no HDMI output and, yes, the support agent was BS'ing his way through a support call.

Already being an owner and user of two different camera types, DSLR and film, I felt I was missing out on the point and shoot category. It is very compact (smaller than a deck of cards) with a serious range 8x zoom. Just be sure you want a camera that takes all the manual control of picture taking before you buy it. There is almost no manual settings, other than choosing which "scene" you think your shot will be. Panasonic has some fun settings - Pin Hole, film grain, and the key word that people love "High Dynamic" mode, which is their attempt to create a High Dynamic Range type of shot. They also have an underwater setting, for those who will later shell out the money for the casing to take this baby in the pool or some other form of wet. The Leica name on the lens is what got me looking at panasonic cameras, and as far as I can tell, its a fine lens. It is no DSLR, but it is a great incognito camera.

Video is Average, but I wasn't really concerned about it. -- When I say average, I'm comparing it to video I've seen taken from a camcorder. If viewed from this point of view, this camera is quite good - one puts it in "smart" mode and it will take care of most everything else for you. This camera is worth the price! Of course Canon is probably the best point and shoot camera out on the market in terms of picture clarity. However, to get the same features on a Canon, I would have to pay $100 more. I am not a pro photographer. If I was I would have bought an SLR instead. I wanted a camera that is simple to use for me and especially my wife. Most pictures are clear. You will have difficulty in low light situations, however. I am satisfied with the action shots for a point and shoot. The HD video is adequate. I would rather sacrifice a little image clarity than have to carry around both a camera and a video cam. Of course I love that it fits in my pocket so I don't have to carry a camera case. The camera start up is fast, but there is a lag time between pictures if you are using the flash. The burst option is great to take action shots. I don't use the smile recognition much. The person's smile must be large to be recognized. The 3 inch screen is fantastic and the buttons and control dial are simple and easy to use. I can see someone with large hands having a problem with the dial. I just wish I could zoom in and out while shooting video.
